F.A.Q's
Frequently Asked Questions
Are ALL of your products Vegan?
Yes – all of our products are 100% vegan.
We don’t use any animal-derived ingredients like tallow, milk, honey or beeswax. Every product is plant-based, cruelty-free and made with skin-loving botanical ingredients.
…..just purely plant based ingredients.
Are you Cruelty free? Do you test your products on animals?
Pure Bliss Soap Co is proud to be a cruelty free company. While stringent testing does go into all of our products, all testing is done by yours truly!! I personally try EVERY single product multiple times before it hits the shelves…..I even try the Dog Shampoo bars on myself before I try it on my two rescued American Staffies!!!
Pure Bliss Soap Co are HUGE animal lovers and would NEVER, in any circumstance whatsoever, test our products on any animals.
Are your products all handmade?
Yes – absolutely! Every product you see (with the exception of a few carefully selected accessories) is handmade by me personally, right here on the Sunshine Coast.
From formulating the recipes and infusing botanicals to blending, pouring, cutting, packaging and labelling – it’s all done by hand, in small batches, with care and intention.
This hands-on process allows me to ensure the quality, consistency and integrity of every item, while keeping things as natural and sustainable as possible.
When you purchase from Pure Bliss Soap Co, you’re not just buying a product – you’re supporting genuine craftsmanship and a small local business with big heart.
Why use Handmade Soap?
Handmade soap is crafted with care using natural oils, butters and botanical ingredients that nourish your skin instead of stripping it. Unlike many commercial soaps, handmade varieties retain their natural glycerin — a humectant that helps keep your skin soft and hydrated.
Our soaps are free from harsh detergents and unnecessary fillers. Each bar is thoughtfully made in small batches, making it gentler, more effective and better for both your skin and the environment.
How is your Soap made?
We make our soap in small batches using the traditional cold process method. This involves blending plant-based oils and butters with a natural lye solution, which triggers saponification — the process that turns oils into soap and naturally occurring glycerin.
Once poured into moulds, the soap is left to set, then cut, hand bevelled, hand stamped and cured for 6 weeks to harden and develop a rich, creamy lather. This method gives us full control over every ingredient, allowing us to use only the finest natural clays, botanicals and essential oils to create nourishing, skin-loving bars
Is it true that there is Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda) in your Soaps?
Yes, No… Let me explain… all REAL soap is made with Sodium Hydroxide. More commonly called ‘Lye’ this is a mixture of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) and a liquid (commonly water, goats milk, juice, beer etc). Any soap product made without sodium hydroxide is not ‘soap’, it is a Detergent Bar (proper soap nourishes the skin, detergent strips it and gives you that tight feeling afterwards!).
Once the chemical reaction of making soap (saponification) is complete, the lye and oil molecules have combined and have chemically changed into soap. After saponification there is NO lye present in the finished bars of soap. While all real soap must be made with lye, no lye remains in the finished product after saponification.
We have a legal obligation list all of the ingredients, even though it’s not present in the final product, it IS listed in our ingredients as we believe in full transparency and you deserve to know exactly what you are putting on your skin. It’s not scary, it’s literally just used to kick start the chemical process then it disperses.
Do Soaps have an Expiry date?
Storing your soaps out of sunlight and heat will ensure the longest possible shelf life and recommended use within six months of purchase to ensure absolute freshness. We recommend that you use them within 12 months.
Although the soaps will not be unusable or ‘spoil’ after 12 months, you may notice that some colors and fragrances will fade over time.
How long will a bar of soap last?
The length of time a soap bar lasts can vary quite a bit depending on several factors. These include how often you use it, how many people share it and even things like whether you’re washing areas with more hair, such as a hairy chest or legs, which may use up soap faster.
Our Pure Bliss Soap Co bars typically last about 4 weeks for one person using it daily.
To extend your soap’s life, store it in a dry, well-draining soap dish and avoid leaving it in standing water. With good care, your bar will give you a luxurious and lasting cleansing experience.
Are your soaps suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, many of our soaps are suitable for sensitive skin. Crafted with pure, plant-based components, our soaps contain no harsh detergents. Our formulas are thoughtfully crafted with nourishing oils, soothing botanicals and natural clays to cleanse without stripping the skin.
As with any new product, for sensitive skin we also recommend doing a patch test before full use, although we have never had any issues reported from customers with sensitive skin.
If you have specific sensitivities or allergies, please check the ingredient list or reach out—we’re happy to help you find the best option for your skin.
I have a nut allergy – are any type of nuts used in the making of your soaps?
We do use nut oils in our products. Where this is the case, they are clearly labelled in the ingredients.
Although the protein that causes most of the reactions is largely removed through the manufacturing process, there may still be a risk of a reaction from using any types of cosmetics or beauty products which contain nut oils by someone with a nut allergy or sensitivity to nuts.
For clarity, our ingredients clearly list what is in the actual bar soap. If you are sensitive to the certain ingredients listed, please feel free to contact us as we are able to do Custom Orders to your specific requirements.
How do I look after my Handmade Soap?
To get the most out of your handmade soap, keep it dry between uses. Use a well-drained soap dish or rack to prevent it from sitting in water, as this helps the bar last much longer.
Store unused bars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Handmade soap is rich in natural oils and glycerin, so a little care goes a long way in keeping it beautiful and long-lasting.
See ‘Accessories' for purchase options.
