Why Choose Palm Oil Free?

At Pure Bliss Soap Co., every ingredient we choose is carefully considered — not just for your skin, but for the planet too. One of the most important decisions we’ve made is to be completely palm oil free.

Palm oil is one of the most widely used ingredients in the world. It’s found in thousands of everyday products — from shampoo, lipstick and ice cream, to the majority of commercially made (and a LOT of handmade) Soaps. While it’s efficient and inexpensive to produce, the environmental cost is far too high.

The palm oil industry is a major driver of deforestation, particularly in Southeast Asia. To make way for plantations, vast tracts of rainforest are cleared — often through illegal felling and burning. This destruction has had catastrophic effects on wildlife. Resident species like orangutans, rhinos and tigers have lost their homes.

The burning of forests also contributes significantly to climate change, releasing massive amounts of carbon into the atmosphere and destroying critical carbon sinks that help regulate the Earth’s climate.

At Pure Bliss Soap Co., we believe that skincare shouldn’t come at the expense of the environment. That’s why we’ve committed to never using palm oil in any of our products — not even sustainably certified versions. We believe that if we can do one small thing to help protect these beautiful animals and their rainforest homes, then it’s absolutely worth it.

While we know we can’t cut palm oil out of every single product we use in daily life — it’s everywhere, we can however choose to be palm oil free where we can.

It may be a small act, but together, small choices lead to big change.
