Five Benefits of Handmade Soap

1) INGREDIENTS
The very best reason to use handmade soap is the ingredients. Typically, handmade soap is usually made of base oils like Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and/or butters like Shea or Cocoa, that are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients that are essential to healthy skin.

Almost anything can be added to create the perfect bar of soap for your skin. Clays, which help detox and remove excess oil, fruit juices, certain types of milk, various kinds of butters, herbs, natural micas for colour and exfoliates such as oats, coffee and seeds. Essential oils can also be added for natural fragrance, as well as artificial fragrances. Everyone wants healthy skin and switching to daily use of handmade soap is the best place to start.

2) REAL SOAP It is commonly called soap, but that mass produced commercial stuff that you get at the grocery store is anything but. You have an array of personal cleansers to choose from that are labelled as deodorant soap, body bars, body washes and beauty bars. These are just chemical cocktails made of detergents and downright disturbing synthetic ingredients that can dehydrate and age skin and may cause allergic reactions.

Handmade soap is the real deal and one of the most appealing aspects is that harmful and unnecessary ingredients are NOT added to make it. More and more people are opting for cleaner, eco-friendly skincare options. We want to know and control what we are putting on our bodies. Our skin is our largest organ and everything that touches it gets filtered through our liver. I personally like it when I can read, pronounce and understand the ingredients label.

You can do this with our soap, so you know exactly what you are putting on your skin and what you are absorbing into your bloodstream.

3) GLYCERIN Glycerin isn’t added to a handmade soap recipe – ‘Glycerin Rivers’ are created naturally during ‘saponification’, the soap making process. Glycerin is a precious emollient that softens and maintains water balance by attracting moisture to your skin. It is proven to be so beneficial to your skin that it is extracted from commercial ‘soap’ and reserved for higher priced body care, hygiene and pharmaceutical products. Handmade soaps retain all of its natural glycerin glory and produces a rich and luxurious lather that is unparalleled to any other.

4) NO HARM When you purchase handmade soaps from us, you can be certain that no humans were harmed, impoverished or subjected to sweat shop working conditions in the process (except me!). No communities or natural habitats were laid to waste by the run-off from some large chemical factory and we certainly don’t use animals to test our products (except my Hubby!!!). I think I speak for all handmade soapmakers when I proclaim to you that we have the utmost respect for the earth and all of its creatures. Reverence to a kinder way of living is a big part of why we do what we do.
